Our Executive Chef and our entire culinary team are dedicated to preparing healthful, delicious gourmet meals that are as appealing to the eye as they are to the palate.

Meadow Ridge currently has employment opportunities for a Line Cook.

The qualified applicant shall be responsible for the preparation of quality meals, in accordance with policies and procedures that are established by Benchmark Senior Living, the State of Connecticut and the Town of Redding. The Line Cook shall be responsible for ensuring sanitary handling and preparation of food, using recipes as instructed by the Executive Chef, meeting daily meal schedules serving required portions, well rounded knowledge of all stations, cross utilization and proper maintenance of all kitchen equipment and increasing team work, productivity and resident/guest satisfaction.

Requirements:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each principle duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.   • Ability to understand and follow instructions in English and communicate effectively, and perform simple arithmetic.
  • Ability to understand measurements and conversions.
  • A minimum of two years experience as a cook in a hotel, restaurant, or club with fine dining preferred.
  • Ability to plan and organize work, to interpret instructions, recipes, specifications and standards.
  • Knowledge of kitchen equipment operations and maintenance. Some knowledge of nutrition and diet.

Job Requirements

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Culinary Arts training a plus
• 2 years dietary experience 

SKILLS AND ABILITIES

• Must be able to interact effectively with residents and staff.
• Must be able to work effectively with residents and personnel.
• Must be able to follow written and oral instructions.
• Must have knowledge of dietary procedures, was well as related laws, regulations, and guidelines pertaining to food service operations.
• Must possess leadership ability and willingness to work harmoniously with and supervise professional and non-professional personnel.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

• Lift up to 50lbs
• This is primarily a standing position where an employee may be required to stand in one place for extended periods of time. They also will be exposed to extreme heat and cold temperatures.
