Job Description

Wellington at Hershey's Mill is seeking an experienced Director of Nursing (DON) for their fast paced, short-term rehab.  This 40-bed rehab is part of a continuum of care located in West Chester, PA.

The DON will plan, organize and direct the overall operation of nursing services in accordance with applicable state and federal regulations, policies, and guidelines to foster the highest degree of quality care. He/she will be responsible for the following:

  • Acting as the leader during survey process.
  • Maintaining all documentation required by state agencies.
  • Develop, review and revise in collaboration with Administrator Operations Standards of Care.
  • Develop, review, and revise standards, guidelines, forms and job descriptions.
  • Provide and/or promote staff educational programs, monitor attendance and compliance with mandatory training as required.
  • Collaborate with the Medical Director and other professional service providers.
  • Ensure that all resident/patient rights and responsibilities are protected and enforced.
  • Review, investigate and resolve customer grievances in cooperation with the Nursing Home Administrator.
  • Organize and promote educational opportunities for residents/patients and families.
  • Participate in the level of care committee for the continuing care retirement community.
  • Ensure standards of a QAPI program and Infection Control Program implemented per policy.
  • Develop and coordinate the QAA process.
  • Participates in the selection of residents for admission to the facility, provides the Administrator with information relative to the nursing needs of the resident and the Nursing department’s ability to meet those needs.
  • Monitors compliance of attending physicians to make visits and document in all required areas according to facility policy and in accordance with current regulations.
  • Makes rounds on all units daily to observe residents and to determine that residents’ needs are being met.
  • Partners with Pharmaceutical services in developing, maintaining, implementing, and periodically updating written policies and procedures for the administration, storage, control and disposal of medications and supplies.

Job Requirements

Educational Requirements and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Nursing or sufficient experience as a Director of Nursing in a Skilled Nursing Facility.
  • Registered Nurse with a current license in good standing. Five to seven years’ experience in long-term care.
  • Maintains current CPR certification.
  • Five years previous management experience.
