Benchmark Senior Living (BSL) was founded in 1997 by Tom Grape, CEO, and is the largest provider of senior housing in New England and employs approximately 6,400 employees.  Our Corporate Office is in Waltham, MA and we offer the highest quality of service and care with the warmth and hospitality of home. Benchmark Senior Living is a leading service provider in several key areas including independent living, assisted living, memory care, skilled nursing, and short stay programs. We offer 63 community locations in Massachusetts, Connecticut, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, Long Island NY, Vermont, and Maine.

We are currently seeking a Vice President of Marketing who will be responsible for developing and executing a clearly defined marketing strategy that enhances brand equity and awareness to support consistent business growth. This position is responsible for planning, organizing, training, and managing all marketing functions to achieve the Company objectives of sales, growth, profitability, and visibility while ensuring a consistent marketing message and position consistent with the corporate direction.  

Primary responsibilities include:

Marketing Strategies

  • Leading, developing and implementing a strategic cohesive marketing plan, marketing strategies and tactics to drive occupancy, revenue and increase market share
  • Directing and coordinating scalable, enterprise-wide brand architecture strategy


  • Setting marketing objectives, performance standards and priorities that are implemented and monitored across the Company
  • Developing marketing KPI reporting, dashboards, and scorecards; analyzing, evaluating and provide reporting on the effectiveness of marketing strategies, methods, costs, and results

Voice of the Customer 

  • Obtaining and distilling customer insight, business, marketing, and competitive intelligence through survey design, focus groups and systematic customer feedback
  • Collecting and analyzing market research, customer research, and competitive analysis to leverage and identify business opportunities and product strategies

Coordinating with Others 

  • Leading performance management for outsourced agencies and vendors within project budgets and timelines
  • Continuously Improving our marketing and digital capabilities and strategies as technology evolves by working closely with sales, communications, and digital groups
  • Working cross functionally with Operations, Sales, IT/Digital Team, Corporate Communications, and others to drive business results and achieve marketing objectives

Team Leadership 

  • Directing internal marketing team to create plans, achieve results and become a high performing team


  • Directing and supporting collection of customer feedback and analytics to develop an understanding of our different and unique customer segments
  • Using strong analytical and presentation skills to interpret data for short- and long-term forecasts and reporting
  • Developing, managing, and reporting on the marketing budget

Job Requirements


  • BA/BS degree in Marketing, business, operations or other relevant discipline, MBA strongly preferred
  • 5 to 10 years’ experience in brand/product/service marketing in the hospitality, senior care, or other relevant industries


  • Strong analytical, strategic thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to nimbly balance customer needs with business goals in developing solutions
  • Executive-level visioning, strategic development, and influencing skills and experience
  • Ability to excel as both a team lead and an individual contributor
  • Ability to drive creative new approaches
  • Extensive experience managing and mentoring teams of high-performing professionals across diverse disciplines such as operations, resident care, activities, and other functional business areas
