Job Description

Benchmark Senior Living is seeking the right candidate for an “Assistant Controller” to join the Business Office who will report to the Controller / Privacy Officer. The candidate must have strong office and administrative skills, combined with Accounting Experience. The position will also include revenue recognition, cash receipts, treasury and other various responsibilities.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

The Accountant will be responsible for the primary responsibilities:

  • Expense reconciliations
  • Timely delivery of monthly statements
  • Project Analytics
  • Financial Record Maintenance, Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable
  • Processing Accounts Payable and verifying all invoices posted on general ledger
  • Updates work papers in Excel for year-end audit preparation
  • Scanning financial documents in a timely manner
  • Process the entrance fee deposits into escrow/trust account during recession period; move funds back to operating account post-recession period
  • Process entrance fee refunds
  • Assist with compilation of month-end financial reporting
  • Review general ledger & financial statements for accuracy
  • Help maintain SOX compliance
  • Assists Controller as needed
  • Other duties as assigned by the Controller

Job Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS - EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENT AND EXPERIENCE

 

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.  The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and abilities required. 

 

  • Bachelor’s Degree Required
  • At least two (2) years of business office/financial experience preferably in the senior living sector
  • Excellent Excel and Analytic Skills
  • Self-starter who is also a Team Player
  • Enjoy a Creative Work Environment

This is a Salaried Position which is Exempt. The expectation during month-end is to work until the job is done. In general, the standard work week is five (5) days/forty (40) hours per

week. However, there may be times when the demands of the business require working more than the standard week.
