Benchmark Senior Living at The Village at Brookfield Common (VBC) is an assisted living community located off of Federal Road in Brookfield, Connecticut. Our 100 apartment community includes independent, traditional, and memory care neighborhoods. We are currently seeking highly motivated and dedicated individuals who can contribute to our growing team.

The Village at Brookfield Common is currently seeking part time activity assistants in our memory care neighborhoods! You must be available to work a Sunday - Thursday or a Tuesday - Saturday schedule. 

The Memory Care Activity Assistant organizes and implements programs designed to meet the individual needs of our residents. The programs are intended to fulfill basic psychological, intellectual, physical, social, emotional and spiritual needs while promoting self-esteem in a caring and nurturing environment.

The role of the Memory Care Activity Assistant requires you to:

• Assist in the development and implementation of an innovative programs that are engaging
• Be responsible for leading and implementing one-on-one, small group and large group activities
• Support, encourage and direct independent activity pursuits both individually and in small groups
• Support the residents abilities by understanding that all aspects of care can be viewed as an activity
• Demonstrate knowledge about residents in regard to background, participation needs, physical abilities, interests, cognitive capacity and attention span capability
• Encourage and motivate residents to attend and participate in programming
• Communicate any changes in the residents condition or behavior pattern to Harbor Care Director
• Stay with group at all times when on excursions

Job Requirements


• Must have a high school diploma, bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience and knowledge of aging and disability issues. Must be qualified by experience and training to develop programs appropriate for elders and disabled individuals.
• Possesses training and knowledge in recreational activities
• Possesses training and knowledge of Alzheimer’s and related dementias
• Maintains a high level of confidentiality regarding residents, staff, and the community
• Shows an ability to relate to and perform job functions for the elderly in a positive and efficient manner
• Shows a consistent ability to coordinate multiple tasks, demonstrates a positive attitude, and works well under pressure
