Job Responsibilities

The Regional Resident Care Specialist, under the direction of the Regional Director of Resident Care, is responsible for providing support, education and oversight of assigned communities to ensure compliance with regulatory and Benchmark standards. S/he is responsible for innovating and implementing processes and procedures to enhance the development of talent and systems. In some select situations, s/he may be required to provide interim leadership as an Resident Care Director.

As a Regional Resident Care Specialist for Benchmark, you will be responsible for the quality of resident care at your facility. You will also appropriately schedule employees including Nurses, Aides and other staff members to ensure that there are enough people to provide adequate care for our seniors.

Additional responsibilities for include:

  • Communicating with families and friends of residents from assigned communities
  • Assuring compliance with all resident care related regulations at assigned communities (e.g., medication management)
  • Documenting and providing accurate record-keeping, as appropriate
  • Demonstrating personal/resident safety methods and procedures at assigned communities
  • Taking corrective action and disciplining employees in writing, if necessary
  • Representing Benchmark with pride and knowledge so as to educate outside groups and organizations

As a Regional Resident Care Specialist for Benchmark Senior Living, you must be approachable as well as flexible and professional with your staff, residents and family members. You must also demonstrate a knowledge and understanding of Benchmark Standards and Practices before assuming your position as Regional Resident Care Specialist.

Additional requirements of the Regional Resident Care Specialist include:

  • Being a Registered Nurse, per state regulations; Bachelor’s degree in Nursing a plus
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in a care setting; Assisted Living/Home Care or Hospice setting required
  • Certified in Gerontology through the American Nurses Credentialing Association a plus
  • Knowledge of Dementia care a plus
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds individually
  • Ability to stand for prolonged periods of time
