Benchmark Senior Living is seeking a proven Senior Director of Corporate Communications professional with experience in owned/earned corporate communications, Crisis Communication, Media Relations, organic social, and content development across all media channels. This key role will be responsible for leading cross-functional teams to develop and execute strategies, plans, and related measurement for the Company, C-Suite, and Communities in these areas.

The Senior Director, Corporate Communications is responsible for leading and directing external corporate communications activities for the organization. This position promotes the awareness for the Benchmark Brand and the public image/reputation of the company to help create a competitive advantage locally, regionally and nationally, resulting in increased sales and value for the organization. Primary responsibilities include strategic planning to support the development/execution Corporate Communications/Crisis/PR strategies for Benchmark Corporate Office/C-Suite and 62 individual communities.

The ideal candidate is one who operates with an entrepreneurial mindset and is not afraid to roll up his/her sleeves when necessary. S/he will have experience leading a team and will bring a high level of gravitas to the role. This individual will work closely with internal cross-functional marketing partners and stakeholders to build the brand image both internally and externally, creating and implementing short and long-term communications strategy. This role will work closely with the CEO/CMO and reports directly to the VP Marketing.

 

Job Requirements

 EDUCATION & CERTIFICATION/ LICENSE CREDENTIALS

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business +/or Communications required; Master’s Degree or MBA highly preferred 

FUNCTIONAL COMPETENCIES — SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE

  • 10+ years’ experience working in a competitive service industry
  • 10+ years Leadership experience in Corporate Communications (ex: advertising/marketing service) and corporate communications/PR) with meaningful experience in healthcare Crisis management
  • Highly knowledgeable about brand development and the importance of deeply understanding customer perspective to drive innovative, value-added content/initiatives
  • Demonstrated experience in leading the development of corporate communication plans
  • A deep understanding of the marketing and communications strategic planning process
  • Strength in brand creative storytelling, organic social media content development, and relationship building across multi-channel marketing
  • Ability to demonstrate creative capabilities for writing/copy direction, and have creative sensitivity to support the brand image and messaging
  • Ability to write executive speeches, reports, presentations, business correspondence
  • Experience having developed and successfully managed a budget of at least $5M
  • Proven ability to track/measure campaign outcomes, ROI, etc.
  • Experience with the selection and management of external agencies, leading and directing initiatives and providing support as needed
  • Strong project management and organizing skills
