Job Description


The Senior Systems Specialist reports directly to the Director of IT. As part of the Applications team the Senior Systems Specialist will help support, maintain, and update Accounting and Finance related systems. This position will help drive innovation and increase staff productivity in concert with the goals of the entire IT department. This position is designed to cover a wide range of applications with the ultimate goal of acting as general support for all Benchmark ERP applications.

Primary Duties:

Liaison to the various departments and IT support for the corresponding applications.

Review, analyze and evaluate business systems, current business processes and departmental needs alongside the Subject Matter Experts of each application.

Propose and document the needs and solutions for complex business challenges

Prepare functional specifications and business requirement documents and steps required to develop or modify computer programs.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Process improvement and automation:
    • Serve as a link between IT, the business and any third party regarding application functionality.
    • Analyze and document business processes. Assess their impact on existing systems.
    • Define and/or collect , understand, and transmit the business requirements for projects and translate them into functional specifications
  • Reporting:
    • Design and develop Excel, Cognos, and SQL –based reports to answer specific business queries
    • Existing applications reports maintenance
    • Quality Control and Testing
    • Supports system structure
  • Support:
    • Maintain and troubleshoot day-to-day management of the system in a timely manner
    • Assist with systems upgrades, patches, plug-ins and migrations
    • Design, execute and document test scenarios and test scripts as necessary
    • Maintain appropriate confidentiality regarding Company information and ensure proper destruction of confidential documents.
  • SOX:
    • Assist with SOX audit tracking for quarterly reports and the yearly audit.

Job Requirements

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Education:
    • Bachelor of Science degree or equivalent experience required. MBA preferred
  • Professional Aptitude:
    • Analysis of HR or Accounting Systems experience required
    • 5 years experience analyzing and documenting complex business processes and developing business requirement specifications for Information Systems.
    • Ability to understand and apply technical concepts
    • Understanding of senior living/healthcare industry
    • Excellent communication skills
    • Ability to consistently respect deadlines
  • Technical:
    • Minimum 1 year experience SQL Experience, 3 years preferred.
    • Advanced skills in MS Office suite and Office 365
    • Knowledge of T-SQL language
    • Experience with Software Development Life Cycles preferred
  • Attitude:
    • Ability to define, propose and execute process improvement projects
    • A desire to learn established and emerging technologies to satisfy business needs.
