Board Certified Expressive Therapist REATS, LHMC, DMT-BC, MT-BC Memory Care & Assisted Living

Accredited Bachelors AND/OR Masters of Mental Health Counseling- Music Therapy

 

Searching for an Expressive Therapist to provide quality non-verbal and verbal enrichment offerings with the influence of art, music, and movement for residents in our memory care community. The role would include expanding the diverse definition of each wellness activity to meet residents where they are to enhance quality of life. The expressive therapist, or someone interested in the field, would work on a team with an art and music therapist to independently lead, co-lead, and support small, large, and individualized programming.

 

Job Description and Responsibilities

The Falls at Cordingly Dam in Newton, MA is seeking an Activity Assistant for our Programming Team for both FT/PT opportunities. The Falls at Cordingly Dam is a Benchmark Senior Living community containing both Memory Care and Assisted Living. At Benchmark we impact lives through human connection. 

The Activity Assistant organizes and implements programs designed to meet the individual needs of our residents. The program is intended to fulfill basic psychological, intellectual, physical, social, emotional, and spiritual needs while promoting self-esteem in a caring, nurturing environment. The Activity Assistant supports and assists the Programming Director in all necessary programming. Qualifications include:

  • Equivalent experience and knowledge of aging and disability issues                                                                                                                                           
  • Possesses training, knowledge, and interest in care for people diagnosed with Alzheimer’s and related dementias                                                                                                                               
  • Assisting in the development and implementation of an innovative daily program for residents
    • Leading and assisting innovative parallel programming to meet the varying and ever-changing needs of the resident population including one-on-ones, small, and large groups on Harbor and Assisted Living
    • Supports the resident’s abilities by understanding that all aspects of care can be viewed as an activity demonstrating a positive attitude  
    • Communicates any changes in the resident's condition or behavior pattern to Director and works well in a team dynamic                                                                                                                                                 • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment and utilize downtime to complete varying administrative tasks or resident signature programs. Shows a consistent ability to coordinate multiple tasks and works well under pressure.
