Adelaide of Newton Centre  is looking for an Music Therapist to join our Programming Team.  We currently have Full Time and Part Time opportunities.

The Music Therapist organizes and implements programs designed to meet the individual needs of our residents. Also providing quality verbal and non-verbal enrichment programs with the influence of music and movement for our memory care residents. The role would include expanding the diverse definition of each wellness activity to meet residents where they are to enhance quality of life.   

Responsibilities:

  • Assisting in the development and implementation of an innovative daily program for residents
  • Leading and assisting innovative parallel programming to meet the varying and ever-changing needs of the resident population including one-on-ones, small, and large groups on Harbor and Assisted Living.
  • Supports the resident’s abilities by understanding that all aspects of care can be viewed as an activity demonstrating a positive attitude.  
  • Communicates any changes in the resident's condition or behavior pattern to Director and works well in a team dynamic.
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment and utilize downtime to complete varying administrative tasks or resident signature programs. Shows a consistent ability to coordinate multiple tasks and works well under pressure.

Job Requirements

Requirements:

  • Must have a high school diploma, bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience and knowledge of aging and disability issues.
  • Must be qualified by experience and training to develop programs appropriate for elders and disabled individuals.
  • Possesses training and knowledge in recreational activities
  • Possesses training and knowledge of Alzheimer’s and related dementias 
  • Shows a consistent ability to coordinate multiple tasks, demonstrates a positive attitude, and works well under pressure
