Job Description

 The Arbors of Bedford, a Premier Memory Care Community in Bedford, NH is looking for a highly skilled LNA to join our team as a lead Aide.

The Lead Aide is responsible for providing the highest degree of quality care and services to a consistent group of residents and their families as well as leading the assigned tasks of the other RCAs on their shift.  The Lead Aide is responsible for modeling the behaviors that support Benchmark’s Vision “Elevate Human Connection” and the Culture and Values (It’s PERSONAL) of the organization.


  • Reports shift updates in communication log ensuring reporting of all incidents to the nurse, all incidents and accidents appropriately and  all unsafe and hazardous conditions/equipment immediately
  • Ensures that established safety regulations are followed at all times including Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), fire extinguishers, SDS (Safety Data Sheets) and Lockout Tagout procedures
  • Checks all med books and ensures that meds have been given, treatments completed, and all initials are complete if state regulations permit
  • Checks ADL books for signatures and completion of care
  • Partners with nurse to ensure resident emergency information is accurate and appropriately dispersed within community
  • Reviews and demonstrates fire, safety, and elopement procedures and ensures that all safety regulations are followed at all times
  • Acts as lead in an emergency (e.g., elopement, fire, disaster, etc.)
  • Participates in conducting environmental safety rounds as assigned
  • Participates in the Safety “PR” Program by recognizing safe associate actions and completes a safety observation form at least weekly
  • Responds to resident/family requests in a timely manner
  • Meets customer service standards in a friendly, helpful, courteous manner with resident and family satisfaction serving as the first priority
  • Answers phones as appropriate
  • Efficiently launders resident laundry


Resident Care 

  • Reviews staffing and schedules to ensures appropriate staffing coverage on shift per the variable staffing model and contacts alternative associates as needed to fill staffing vacancy
  • Take call outs that come in during the shift and appropriately fill for applicable shift
  • Participates in weekly resident tracking meetings as available
  • Participates in the development of Resident Care Service Plans and updates; attends service plan review meetings with families as requested
  • Assists in managing the Continence Program
  • Ensures that AM, PM and evening snacks are passed to all residents, per community policy
  • Checks SAMM/MAR for completion from prior shift
  • Reports all resident care changes or increased needs to supervisor
  • Knows and complies with all resident rights
  • Initiates, assigns, and assists with activities, as appropriate
  • Checks all residents daily for cleanliness, appropriate clothing, and any continence issues
  • Uses proper sanitary procedures and universal precautions
  • Checks on resident rooms daily for general cleanliness and neatness and takes appropriate action; ensures high risk rooms are double checked
  • Checks laundry rooms, common areas ¾ including bathrooms ¾ for cleanliness
  • Ensures that ADLs for residents have been satisfactorily completed




Job Requirements





  • Must have current certification as a nursing assistant or have successfully completed the certified home health aide or homemaker/personal care homemaker training program 
  • CPR Certificate and First Aid as required by state regulations (if no regulation exists then per Benchmark policy within six months of hire date)
  • High School education preferred and may be required by state regulations
